SWITCH FROM TRELLO
Move from Trello to Kovenar
Export your Trello board as JSON and import it in minutes — columns, cards, labels, checklists, due dates and assignees included. Here's what crosses over, and what doesn't.
The import report counts archived items, completion flags and link attachments, so you can see what stayed behind.
How to export
Take the JSON export out of Trello in plain steps. The vendor's own screenshots live in their guide, where they stay current.
- 01Open the board in Trello, then open the board menu.
- 02Choose "Print, export, and share" → "Export as JSON".
- 03Save the JSON file — every board member can export, on every plan.
- 04In Kovenar, start an import and drop the JSON; you'll get a report of anything that didn't map.

What comes across
Straight from the importer's mapping — not a promise, the code path that runs when you drop your export.
What doesn't (yet)
The same report you'll see after importing — nothing disappears quietly.
- Archived lists and cards — skipped and reported.
- Due-date completion flags — not modelled, so they're reported as skipped.
- Label colors outside the standard set — imported as grey and counted.
- Attachments — the Trello export carries no files, so none come across; link attachments are counted in the report.
- Card comments and activity — not read from the export.
- Custom fields and start dates — not read from the export.
The whole picture, across the product, lives in the trade-off list.
The bill at 10 seats
Trello's list price against the Kovenar plan that's actually cheapest at this size — computed, not chosen for the brochure.
- Trello Standard — list price
- $50/mo
- Kovenar Pro — 10 seats
- $70/mo
On seats alone Trello is $20 a month cheaper — Kovenar pays off when it also replaces the docs or database tool you run next to it. Pro is the cheapest paid plan up to 11 seats, Flat from 12 — run your own numbers.
Questions, answered
01Can I export JSON on the free Trello plan?
Yes — every board member can export a board to JSON on every plan. Kovenar imports that same file.
02What happens to checklists and due dates?
Checklists arrive as checklist items with their checked state; due dates keep their day. Completion flags, which Trello tracks separately, aren't modelled and are reported as skipped.
03Are archived cards imported?
No — archived lists and cards stay out and are counted, so the board you import is the board you see.
04Can I keep Trello running while I try Kovenar?
Yes — the export is read-only. Run both for a month and cancel Trello when the team is happy.
